Why and how we made Romanticdesktops - Part 3
We have yet not discussed about the page design on RomanticDesktops Letme take us that here first. For the menu, we had an option oftaking the menu on the left as is commonly done. But we chose tokeep the menu on the top to give an uncluttered look to thepage. The header has a small flash design to make the site lookrich. More flash is no no, as many search engines don't searchflash designs.
Thumbnails -
The thumbnails have been given a border and are laid two in arow and four in a column. This gives a neat look to the pages.Click here to find out yourself? Thumbnail Page
Preview pages -
All the content on www.romanticdesktops.com is in flash and incorporates video shots. The file sizes aretherefore little heavy to download twice. we therefore decidednot to give a preview in flash , but a static thumbnail withdescription of the content. On the preview page, a Tell a friendform is embedded right on the page to make it easier for thevisitor to inform friends. A small text about Download on theright of the thumbnail completes the design of preview page. Thetext on the right is in flash to make the page alive.
Look at some of the pages listed blow and decide if we arecorrect in our design decisions.
