When DVD technology came out, a lot of people thought that itwas not going to last. Well, as happened with CDs back in theirtime, it has proven to be a long lasting technology.
With more and more players and accessories available everyday,it will not be easy for any new standard to gain the crown theDVD rightfully owns.
Improvements on DVD technology are amazing. A new player seemsto come out every month, featuring more extensive capabilitiesand offering more benefits to users. But advances in technologydo not only apply to DVD players, but also to accessories andproducts designed to take the most out of the DVD experience.>From big screen plasma television sets to impressively realisticdigital audio systems, building your own custom home theater iseasier than ever.
This technology has been accepted so widely that people startedturning that spare room they had in their houses intoentertainment rooms, where the whole d¨Ścor is based on the DVDsystem looks and functionality, from sound system architectureand layout to even furniture comfort and color matching.
But DVD technology, as you may know, may not only be used toplay movies. In fact, the first idea behind DVD development wasto provide a better, more reliable way to save and transportlarges amounts of data. So, it is expected to find an extensivevariety of DVD hardware available for computers. In fact, DVDreaders and writers are quickly replacing CD drives when itcomes to computer users' preferences, as a platform to save andrestore valuable data in servers or just for making it possibleto save huge bulks of information.
When Zip? and Jazz? disks came out, I gave them a thumb up. WhenI rated CD technology, I gave them two thumbs up. The onlyreason I also give DVDs two thumbs up is that I have only twohands; but I wouldn't hesitate to give them four if it werepossible.
