How to Buy Jewelry on the Internet
By Jeffrey Miller        [Hits: 4329]

Recently there was a segment on 20/20 (an investigative TV showin the USA) regarding buying Jewelry on EBay. They reported thatthey bought fifteen items, and only fourteen of the fifteen werelegitimate. They interviewed an IGI Gemologist who said thatmost of what's offered as diamonds on online sites are no betterthan "frozen spit".

Of course John Stossel of 20/20 carefully said that there aremany legitimate purveyors on eBay. My experience has beensimilar to what was broadcasted AND I AM A JEWELER! I mistakenlythought that I could sell my jewelry on eBay and at leastrecover my costs and perhaps just a little profit.

Given the fact that JeffreyDesign is offering legitimate, genuine gemstones, silver, gold, designer bracelets, necklaces, rings, pendants and just about everything else you might find ata 'brick and mortar' jewelry store (except the bright lighting)at discount prices put me in the mix with the majority of scamartists selling Cubic Zirconia, claiming they were "diamonds"and the CZ's they're selling aren't even good CZ's! (Yes thereis a difference.) Often they offer "Gold" rings but you find outthey are 9kt or a thin layer of gold plated over brass or someother base metal.

So how do you know what you're getting? Never buy without askinglots of questions first. Sure, I sell some Cz's but I tell youwhat they are. Other sites put it in fine print! Yes some of myrings are Gold Vermeil (which is solid 14 or 18kt gold rolledover .925 Sterling Silver) but I tell you that (IN LARGE PRINT)whereas many adverstise vermeil as simply "Gold" which it simplyisn't. (Not that there is anything wrong with it)

Ask the questions, and see how responsive the seller is. Do theyfeed you back a bunch of hype or are they truly interested inhelping you get what you wanted? at JeffreyDesign we have builtour business on helping people get EXACTLY what they want at areasonable price and we no longer sell on eBay because we don'twant to be lumped in with the Wild Wild West of jewelry forgers.

Remember, ask questions. See how quickly and thoroughly theyrespond to you. Educate yourself on jewelry buzzwords like"diamondique" or suchlike words (hint: they mean CZ) Beware ofeBay Jewelry. Beware of retail Jewelers too!
