What kind of hammock do you have? Does it have spreader bars atthe ends or not? It is important to realize that a hammock standdesigned for a hammock with spreader bars is not suitable for ahammock without them. The reason is simple - hammocks withspreader bars are flatter and usually hang much closer to theground than the traditional kind. Most sites that sell standsfor hammocks indicate whether the stand is for a hammock withspreader bars or not, but if it is not clearly marked, ask theretailer before making your final choice.

You have two major options - wood hammock stands and metalstands.

Metal hammock stands is an easy and affordable solution. Theymight be not as decorative as wooden ones, but metal stands aredurable, light-weight and don't require much maintenance. Theyare also very easy to put together, whenever you want to getsome hammock time, and pull apart, whenever your hammock is notin use.

You can usually get stands made of steel or stainless steel.Steel stands are usually painted but, eventually, some paintcould chip off and the stand will rust. Stainless steel standsare more expensive, but they are really a better option.Stainless steel hammock stands will not rust and look like newfor many year.

Most metal stands are designed for hammocks with spreader bars.

Wood hammock stands add a touch of elegance to your yard orpatio design. They require some maintenance - it is recommendedto treat your wood stand once a year with water repellant. Thisway the wood keeps its beautiful color. The most popular type ofwooden stand is the Roman Arc hammock stand, made from cypresswood. It is also the safest and most stable design. You can findwood stands for hammocks with spreader bars, as well for oneswithout the bars.

Wood stands have to disadvantages, though. First, they are moreexpensive than the metal ones. Second, large wood stands are notportable because they are heavy.

How to hang a hammock with only one tree.

If you have one tree in the araa where you want to hang yourhammock, there is no need for a stand. Hang one end of yourhammock on the tree and get a hammock post for the other end.Posts are usually made from stainless steel. They cost much lessthan a full stand and also look less intrusive.
