How do you see it?
Terry Dashner (www.ffcba.com)
Someone once said that there are not two sides to a story butthree--one side, the other, and the truth in between. Especiallyis this true in politics, but in the case of truth and justicethere can only be one side--the truth side.
Yes I know you can deny the truth by saying it isn't so, but youstill can't change the truth. Truth is truth whether or not Iagree with it. Our nation is struggling to make truth out of warin Asia. Some say America is the villain in Asia. Others saythat tyranny and terrorism are the reasons we fight. But what isthe truth that can not be denied?
The truth that can not be denied is that America didn't startthe war on terrorism. She responded to an attack on Americansoil. Remember September 11, 2001? The truth is that America'smilitary is composed of the finest citizens in the world. Theyare men and women of all creeds, religions, colors, and culturesfighting as one American solider, one airman, one sailor, andone marine. They are the finest citizens because they volunteerto lay down their lives daily for an oppressed people on foreignsoil. And what's the truth? Many Americans have died in combatto save a foreign people from tyranny. There is no greaterservice and devotion than this--that a man lay down his life foranother.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Americanism is a question ofprinciple, of idealism, of character: it is not a matter ofbirthplace or creed or line of descent." The truth is that wefight because of principle, idealism, and justice. It is notright that a people should be enslaved by another group ofpeople, whether by government, religion, or extremism. Toliberate a man from tyranny is just, and justice always seekstruth at any cost.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "Those who deny freedom to othersdeserve it not for themselves." Try and persuade an Americanveteran that there is no truth in Lincoln's statement. It can'tbe done. Again Lincoln said, "The shepherd drives the wolf fromthe sheep's throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd ashis liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act asthe destroyer of liberty." I rest in this. I can't change thefact that some will always oppose America the liberator.Although I do rest assured by the truth that all men, everywherewant to live free. And that man everywhere knows that Americawill always be the land of the free.
Keep the faith. Stay the course. Jesus is coming soon.
