A Lifetime of Words - Review
By write 2 right        [Hits: 12884]

Robin has split her book of poetry into neat sections dealing with Love, the joys and frustrations of raising children, the absolute grief caused by the loss of her father and finally she dedicates a chapter to her religious beliefs.

Her style is simple, using basic language and sometimes using common rhyming themes ?¨C yet she experiments with different styles of writing throughout the book. There was a surprising number of little five-line poems.

Several times, I was forced to sit and contemplate what she wrote ?¨C not the entire poem, but sections stood out for me in a powerful way. Statements like "This is your day, warm and bright, each hour a gift?¡" , "My being is not a hindrance, but a blessing to move through life by chosen action?¡" and "When I walk alone, you will be the sun at my back and the smile on my lips?¡" were very moving for me. My most favorite poems in this book have to be "In the Now" and "Young at Heart".
