Building Backlinks With Blogs
By Russell Savige        [Hits: 13642]

The most boring part of getting traffic to a website is \rgetting backlinks. This is hard, boring, time consuming \rwork. You spend hours finding relevant websites to link to, \rthen spend hours more sending emails requesting backlinks, \ror submitting your sites to there links pages. And at the \rend of the day (actually in a few weeks), you have ? a dozen \rnew reciprocal link partners. that's good and all, but it \rbores the living hell out of me, and I don't have time for \rit. And they are only reciprocal links.

One-way links

Far better are one way links back to your pages. These are \rfrom websites that link to your site without you having to \rreciprocate. They are the best links to have, and the best \rway to get them in the past has been by submitting articles \rto places like directories, ezines and forums where other \rpeople read them, and hopefully give you a link back on \rthere website somewhere.

Using a blog you can build one-way links to your site very \rfast. If you write articles of interest to others, they will \rlink back to you in articles they write on their own blogs, \rand bloggers link to other bloggers without even thinking.

Getting your blog seen

"OK, so how do I get my blog in front of other people?" you \rask... you automatically submit your blog posts to the large \rblog and feed directories as soon as you publish them, \rthat's how! Included in your blog software is the ability to \rping other feed sites. At SEO-easy.com you can find a free \rlist of 45 directories to add to your Blog, so you can ping \rthem automatically every time you update your blog.

If your blogging software doesn't have the ability to \rautomatically ping, go to Pingomatic.com and submit your \rblog manually.

Where to put your blog

On your website, that's where. If your blog is hosted \routside your website... on blogger.com for instance, move \rit! You can't get backlinks with your blog if unless it's on \ra page of your website. The other option is using WordPress \ror a similar blog package.

WordPress is fast becoming the most popular blogging \rsoftware in use today. It is included as a free download in \rwith many hosting accounts. Go into your servers admin and \rlook for Fantastico Scripts and it should be there. If your \rhosting includes cPanel, you will find it is included, all \ryou need to do is install it, and that takes only a minute. \rIf your hosting does not include it, you can download and \rinstall it from WordPress.org yourself.

You can place your blog on your homepage - yoursite.com - on \ranother page of your site - yoursite.com/blog - on a \rsubdomain - blog.yoursite.com - but in my opinion, by far \rthe best is yoursite.com
